Sweatin' Out My Blowout at Corepower Yoga

I haven't been working out this week. I know the culprit. It's my hair. Whenever I get my hair done I am reluctant to do a full on workout because I sweat in my hair. It's actually pretty common for black women. But don't think that black women don't work out we do! But some choose their hairstyle over their health and I was one of them. I had to accept my natural hair for my health which is what I am rocking after this session.

Last month I asked friends to invite me to their workouts. A girlfriend took me up on the offer and invited me to Corepower Yoga. I always drove by these studios but never was brave enough to take a class. My friend invited me to the Corepower Yoga 2 75 minute class. I never sweated so much in my life. It was a 95-98 degree heated class with added humidity. The instructor was really good but I had a hard time keeping up. When she said, "Let's lay down for svanasana." I rejoiced because I knew what that meant, I can finally lay down! After class she commended me for taking level 2 and I could barely thank her because I was so out of energy.

Lately I've been avoiding yoga because it shows how heavy I am when I am certain positions and have to find my strength to hold my body weight. I knew it would be challenging but I wanted to do it to see what to aspire to. I'm glad I did and will definitely go back because it showed me my limits and how far I need to go. Plus you can try their classes for free for a week so why not?!
